Contractor and Referral Disclaimer
Last updated: July 7, 2026
LocalHomeQuotes helps connect homeowners with independent home-service contractors. The following limitations are important before you request or accept a referral.
Independent contractors
Referred contractors are independent businesses. They are not our employees, agents, partners, or representatives. We do not control their estimates, schedules, methods, employees, subcontractors, materials, safety practices, permits, contracts, payments, warranties, or work.
A referral is not a guarantee
A referral means only that the contractor may offer the requested service in the relevant area and may have indicated availability. It is not a certification, endorsement, warranty, or guarantee of licensing, insurance, bonding, background, reputation, pricing, responsiveness, workmanship, or suitability.
Verify before hiring
Ask for current documentation and verify it directly with the issuing licensing board, insurer, or bonding company. Requirements vary by trade, location, and project value.
Your agreement is with the contractor
Any service agreement is directly between you and the contractor. Review the scope, price, deposit, payment schedule, materials, permit responsibility, start and completion expectations, cleanup, change orders, cancellation rights, warranties, and dispute terms in writing before signing.
Problems or complaints
Contact the contractor promptly about project concerns. You may also contact the appropriate licensing board, consumer-protection agency, insurer, law-enforcement agency, or private attorney. Informing us of a concern may help us review continued participation in the network, but we do not adjudicate contractor disputes or guarantee refunds or repairs.
